“Versatile” by Big Al Bartell

Tile Mosaic Car – Versatile
Created by Allen J. Bartell in Houston, Texas, this 1971 Buick Centurion is covered with more than 1,000 pounds of ceramic tile. Versatile has won multiple awards at the Houston Art Car Parade and now takes its place in the Art Car World collection.

Preparing the Car for Transport
Moving an art car requires special care. Before travel, Versatile is carefully inspected, secured, and protected to ensure its thousands of ceramic tiles remain intact.

Big Al Bartell Says Goodbye to Versatile
Allen J. “Big Al” Bartell, the Houston artist behind Versatile, poured his vision and craftsmanship into transforming a 1971 Buick. After years of showing and celebrating his creation, Big Al bids farewell as Versatile finds a permanent home at Art Car World, where it will continue to inspire future generations. Today, the car is displayed outside the museum at the Exhibit Monument.
